Offshore Wind LiDAR Training Programme at NIOT Chennai
MeaTech Solutions LLP successfully conducted a training programme on “Offshore Wind LiDAR for Moored Buoy System” at the National Institute of Ocean Technology (NIOT), Chennai, on 14 August 2026.
The programme was organised for the Wind LiDAR systems supplied and procured by NIOT under Mission Mausam and was attended by more than 40 participants.
The interactive training programme covered:
- Overview of the Offshore Wind LiDAR system and its applications
- Practical demonstration of the LiDAR system
- Hands-on training on system operation and configuration
- System maintenance and operational practices
- Understanding the application of LiDAR technology for offshore wind resource assessment
The participants gained valuable practical knowledge of LiDAR system operation, configuration, maintenance, and its application in offshore wind resource assessment.
MeaTech Solutions LLP is pleased to contribute to the development of technical capabilities and knowledge in advanced wind measurement technologies for offshore applications.
Accurate measurement of visibility in all weather conditions
Newly installed visibility sensor (VS20K) for one of our major customer to deal with the wide variety of road and transport conditions. We have used Campbell Scientific make CR350 datalogger along with Lufft make VS20k Visibility sensor to provide real-time visibility up to 20000meter.<br>
Visibility is determined by measuring reflectance in accordance with the 42° forward scattering principle. The particles in the field of measurement (e.g. fog droplets) scatter the infrared light emitted by the transmitter. The receiver measures the rate of scattered light from which the reflectance is calculated. Visibility is then computed taking account of the set border contrast.
